How It Works
How It Works
Early American settlers learned about wild hydrangea root from the Cherokee Indians who used it for kidney support. Our hydrangea grows in the eastern US and is non-GMO, and free from pesticides and heavy metals. Giving you the best products requires starting with the finest ingredients. Our hydrangea roots are harvested in the eastern United States. And after collection, they are dried, milled and steam treated for sanitization.
Both our supply partner and Nature’s Sunshine scientists test the material for microbiological contamination, pesticides and heavy metals, among other things. Our hydrangea root powder is non-GMO verified, certified Vegan, gluten-free, and certified Kosher and Halal.
Hydrangea arborescens is also called smooth hydrangea, wild hydrangea and sheep flower. It grows across much of the eastern US and as far west as Kansas.
This species of hydrangea likes moist soil and often grows in forests and near streams. Unlike its colorful cousins known for their eye-popping blue and purple hues, this hydrangea plant bears clusters of delicate, white flowers in the summer. Some have called it seven bark for its propensity to peel off in many layers of different-colored bark.
Hydrangea root was used by Native American groups for targeted kidney and urinary support. Native people shared this herb’s properties with early American settlers who continued using it for relief. Hydrangea root has also been used traditionally to support the prostate gland.
